The Allocation Scheme Review

Overview

Oxford City Council is reviewing its Allocations Scheme and would like to hear your views on the proposals.

The Allocations Scheme is the housing policy the Council uses to prioritise existing Council tenants and other residents in housing need, for an offer of new or existing social housing becoming available to let in Oxford.

This policy has an important role in helping to prevent homelessness and housing those in the greatest housing need in Oxford, including households who are homeless, living in overcrowded or unsuitable homes, or needing to move for health or welfare reasons.

The Allocations Scheme aims to balance local priorities with current legislation, guidance and best practice and, make the best possible use of the limited supply of social housing in Oxford.

Following a review of the Allocations Scheme to identify improvements to the existing policy, this consultation provides an opportunity for Council tenants, other residents and partner organisations to comment on key areas of the Allocations Scheme which are:

  • Proposed to change

  • Proposed to stay the same

Why your views matter

The views of tenants, residents and key stakeholders – including Registered Providers of social housing – are essential in shaping the final version of the updated Allocation Scheme. This consultation gives you the opportunity to comment on the proposals and influence the future policy.

Each question on the draft Allocations Scheme provides a summary of the reasons for the proposed changes and asks for views or comments. A full copy of the draft Allocations Scheme and the accompanying draft Equality Impact Assessment can be viewed at the bottom of this page.
