Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Policy
Overview
The Council has reviewed its Policy on the Relevance of Warnings, Offences, Cautions and Convictions for Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing.
The policy contains information about legal requirements, government guidance, Council policy, procedures and standards. It has been produced pursuant to the powers conferred by the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976, the Town Police Clauses Acts 1847 and 1889, the Public Health Act 1875 and the Local Government Act 1972 which place on the Council the duty to carry out licensing functions in respect of Hackney Carriage and Private Hire vehicles, drivers and operators.
Why your views matter
The revision of this Policy has had specific regard to the Department for Transport 'Best Practice Guidance' and 'Statutory Taxi and Private Hire Standards'.
Following the recommendations by the DfT Guidance and Standards, it is important that Licence Holders, Members of the Public and Key Stakeholders contribute to a revised policy by providing their feedback and recommendations for the Council to consider.
