Broad Meadow - Summer 2021

Closed 29 Oct 2021

Opened 1 Jul 2021

Overview

From 1 July 2021 until the end of September, the western part of Broad Street has been transformed into "Broad Meadow" - a new outdoor space containing wildflower meadows, lawns and seating.

The main purpose of Broad Meadow is to promote the safe use of the city centre over the summer, to support Oxford’s economic recovery and to inform the development of longer-term options for creating better civic spaces on Broad Street and in other parts of the city in the future.

Broad Meadow is one of Oxford city centre’s largest outdoor public spaces, open for all to use at a time when the city hopes to welcome significant numbers of shoppers, visitors and workers to the city.

Why your views matter

Over the summer, we are keen to hear the views of Oxford residents, workers, students and visitors. It is a chance for you to have your say about the scheme and contribute to the City Council's review and learning process for the future.

What happens next

The results from the summer 2021 public engagement process are being analysed and incorporated into the wider review of the scheme. We will share a summary of the results and our recommendation in due course.
