Friars Wharf Play Area Improvements Proposal
Overview
We would like to get your opinion on our proposal to improve the play area next to the river at Friars Wharf (a location map is available at the bottom of this webpage).
Previous feedback highlighted two main issues: the lack of equipment for younger children, and that the old concrete slide mound and worn-out multi-play climber make the play area look tired. The large concrete mound is also unsightly and blocks sightlines, which may increase the risk of antisocial behaviour.
Friars Wharf Play Area Improvements Concept Design:
The proposed changes are as follows:
- The large concrete mound, old multi-play climber and slide would be removed.
- Two new multi-play climbers with slides would be installed: one to replace the existing one for older children and one for younger children.
- There would also be a swing for younger children and a 3m-tall cone net climber for children of different abilities.
- The three existing items of newer play equipment closest to the river would be retained.
- New equipment to replace the concrete mound and old climber would match the durable quality and materials of the existing items, creating a more unified design throughout the play area.
We hope these changes will greatly improve the overall look of the play area and wider setting, as well as providing a better range of equipment for families with children of different ages.
We now have a potential funding opportunity to make improvements listed above and we would greatly value your opinion on the proposals.
