Priorities for the Domestic Abuse Policy

Below are the priorities in our Domestic Abuse Policy for Service Users, with a brief explanation for each to help you understand why it is considered a priority.

  • Safe accommodation and housing support: Securing your home to keep you safe, or working with housing staff to find a new, safe place to live.
  • Listening and believing approachStaff will listen to your needs and believe what you are telling them.
  • Support is accessible and inclusiveHelp is available to everyone, and all individuals feel respected and included.
  • Support services for victims and survivorsStaff will refer individuals to specialist services if they wish to receive them.
  • Holding perpetrators to accountStaff will do what they can to reduce the impact of harm on victims/survivors.
  • Partnership working across agencies:To keep people safe, staff will collaborate with other agencies, with permission from the victim/survivor.
  • Trained staff to respond and risk assess effectivelyAll staff will be trained on understanding the dynamics and risks of domestic abuse and how to be supportive towards victims/survivors. 
  • Confidentiality and secure information storageStaff will not share your personal information and will store it securely so no one else can access it without your permission.
