Help us choose the winner of our Swift Tower competition!

The Oxford Swift City project, launched in May 2017, seeks to improve the prospects for Oxford’s swifts. Swift numbers across the UK have fallen dramatically in recent years, most likely due to lack of suitable places to nest.

Local partners held a Swift Tower competition as part of the project, in order to find an exciting new design for a swift tower to be built in Oxford. A swift tower is a free-standing structure, with lots of boxes for swifts to nest in.

Providing new nest boxes could help their recovery, as many traditional nesting sites in Oxford’s buildings are being lost.

The competition was open to all ages, across four categories: ’12 and under’, ’13-17 years’, ‘adult non-professional’ and ‘professional’. The judges have selected their three favourite designs for a shortlist and we need your help to decide which one should win. The winning design will be built in the Oxford University Parks, subject to planning permission being granted.

Each design below shows the original entry, as well as a mock-up showing you how the design would likely look like it if were built in the University Parks

Please tick one of the boxes in the questionnaire to let us know which one of these designs is your favourite.  We would also love to know what made this your favourite design.

This project is supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund.

To take part in the survey you may need to complete a short registration form if you haven't already done so.  Most of the questions on this form are optional except for the email address and postcode.  The registration process is required for the sole reason of preventing people voting multiple times.
