Budget Consultation 2019/20

Every year, we spend around £100 million providing public services that you, your family and friends use every day.

Over the last 4 years, the Council has made efficiencies of around £10 million to maintain spending on key council services, dealing with increasing demands and rising costs, at a time when government grants have been reduced to zero with effect from 1st April 2019, a loss of over £6 million from the amount received in 2013.

Over the next 4 years, we will make a further £7.3 million of efficiencies, in addition to increasing income, including from our wholly owned company Oxford Direct Services which trades with external organisations and makes a profit

The draft budget proposes a Council Tax rise of 2.99% for the next financial year from April 2019, which is £8.94 per year or 17pence per week, for the average band D household.

We would like to hear your views on our draft budget and get a deeper understanding of your priorities, needs and aspirations in relation to our services and your community.
