Oxford City Council is preparing an Area Action Plan (AAP) to guide future development and change associated with new homes proposed on the north east of Oxford on land to the north of the ring-road at Barton. The 36 hectares (known as the Land at Barton) is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to provide a large number of new homes and facilities. There is also the opportunity to ensure that existing communities in Barton and Northway benefit from the changes that take place.
We are now at the second stage in producing the Area Action Plan. This is known as the Preferred Options stage. We would like your views on the options we have identified for the area. The options include new homes, vehicle access, pedestrian and cycle crossings of the ring-road, allotments and open space, a new community hub and design principles for the development. We are also seeking views on proposals by Ruskin College for Ruskin Fields.
The consultation runs until 24th June 2011.
As part of the Preferred Options consultation, we will be holding a number of drop in sessions when staff will be available to answer questions. The dates are as follows:
Mortimer Hall, Old Marston - 7th June, between 3.30 and 6.00
Barton Neighbourhood Centre - 9th June, between 4.30 and 7.30
Northway Community Centre - 13th June, between 4.30 and 7.00
Headington Baptist Church - 15th June, between 4.30 and 7.30
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of this part of Oxford and we look forward to hearing your views.
