Core Strategy Further Proposed Changes

Oxford City Council is in the process of producing the Oxford Core Strategy. This is the overarching planning document guiding the pattern of development in Oxford to 2026 at a strategic level. Work on the Core Strategy began in 2006 and in the following years we undertook four consultations before submitting the Core Strategy to the Government in November 2008. Further details on the Core Strategy can be found on the Core Strategy page.

Oxford's Core Strategy referred to the urban extension to the south of Oxford (within South Oxfordshire District Council's area) which is set out in the South East Plan and is the planning document for the South East region of England. However, due to legal challenges made to the South East Plan, uncertainty was raised over whether or not the urban extension would ultimately remain in the Plan and whether Oxford's Core Strategy would be affected.

The Core Strategy Inspector requested that Oxford City Council set out changes to the Core Strategy that would be needed assuming the urban extension was not included in the South East Plan.  These are the Further Proposed Changes to the Submission Core Strategy.

Consultation on this document has now closed. Please see the Core Strategy Examination page for the latest information.
